Medically Managed.
More than the number on the scale.
Medical weight management is designed for individuals who want to lose weight while improving their overall health. At BonaVita, medication is a tool, not the entire plan.
Your program begins with a 90-minute medical consultation with our Nurse Practitioner, including a detailed health and lifestyle assessment, lab work and review, and InBody body composition analysis. Together, we look at where you are, where you want to go, and what may be standing in the way.
From there, we create a personalized plan focused on sustainable weight loss, nutrition, movement, preserving muscle, and improving long-term health.
When appropriate, GLP-1/GIP medication may be initiated at your first visit and incorporated into your plan with continued medical monitoring, education, and follow-up throughout your journey.
-
Science-Driven. Medically Guided.
GLP-1–based medications work through several pathways that regulate appetite, fullness, blood sugar, and digestion. They can decrease hunger, increase satiety, and make maintaining a reduced-calorie eating pattern more achievable.
But medication is only one part of medical weight management.
Treatment begins with a medical consultation, physical exam, InBody analysis, lifestyle assessment, and baseline lab work. If medication is appropriate, dosing is introduced and adjusted based on your individual response and tolerance.
Throughout treatment, we monitor more than weight. We follow body composition, nutrition, hydration, movement, muscle mass, symptoms, medication tolerance, and lab markers when indicated.
The goal isn't simply to lose weight. It's to improve your health while building habits you can maintain long after the number on the scale changes.
-
• Improve body composition while prioritizing lean muscle
• Build healthier nutrition and movement habits
• Better understand your metabolic health through lab work
• Identify and address nutritional deficiencies when present
• Receive ongoing medical guidance throughout your weight-loss journey
• Build the knowledge and habits to support your health long term
• Create a realistic strategy for maintaining your results
• Improve confidence, energy, and overall well-being
• Become a healthier version of yourself with longevity in mind -
• Complete your paperwork. Submit your Medical Weight Management Questionnaire, consents, and required forms before your appointment.
• Complete your lab work at least two weeks prior. This allows time for your results to be received and gives your provider the opportunity to thoroughly review your labs before your consultation.
• Think about your goals. Consider what you want to achieve, not only with your weight, but with your overall health and how you want to feel.
• Come with an open mind. Your plan may look different than you expected, and that's okay. We'll build it around what makes sense for you.
• Give yourself grace. This is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. We're focused on creating healthier habits and meaningful changes that you can carry with you for the long term.
Why Choose BonaVita for Medical Weight Management?
Safety First. Always.
Your health comes before weight loss. Every patient begins with a medical evaluation, lab work, and ongoing provider oversight to determine what is appropriate and safe for you. We continue to assess your health throughout the program, and if at any point the risks outweigh the benefits, treatment will be adjusted or discontinued. Your health always comes first.
More Than Medication
Medication can be an effective tool, but it isn't the entire plan. We focus on nutrition, movement, body composition, muscle preservation,
lifestyle habits, and your overall health, not simply the number on the scale.
Provider Managed
Your care is managed by a Nurse Practitioner from your initial 90-minute consultation through your ongoing follow-ups. We monitor your progress, response to treatment, body composition, labs when indicated, and potential side effects, adjusting and treating as needed while providing education, encouragement, and support along the way.
Education Matters
We want you to understand your health, not simply follow a plan. Your lifestyle matters—work, family, time, nutrition, exercise, stress, and even the season of life you're in all influence what is realistic for you. There is no cookie-cutter approach. We help you understand your nutrition, movement, body composition, metabolic health, and daily habits, then build a plan that can realistically work within your life.
We're Playing the Long Game
This isn't about losing weight as quickly as possible. It's about becoming a healthier version of yourself, setting realistic goals, and building small, sustainable habits you can carry into everyday life. The goal isn't a quick fix, it's long-term health with longevity in mind.
Our Approach to Medical Weight Loss
The medication is a tool. Your health is the blueprint.
GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications have changed the way we can medically support weight loss, but they haven't changed what matters most: your overall health.
Sustainable weight loss means looking beyond the number on the scale. We pay attention to muscle mass, nutrition, movement, hydration, lab values, nutritional deficiencies, lifestyle, and most importantly, how you feel, not just how you look.
Sometimes medication is appropriate. Sometimes it isn't. And sometimes your plan needs to change along the way.
Our job is to educate and empower you to better understand and advocate for your health, monitor your progress, and make thoughtful recommendations throughout the process—not simply hand you medication and send you home.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Medication is one tool we may use, but it isn't appropriate or necessary for everyone. Your provider will review your health history, labs, body composition, lifestyle, and goals before discussing whether medication should be part of your plan.
-
Weight loss varies significantly from person to person and depends on factors including starting weight, medication response, nutrition, activity, sleep, underlying health conditions, and consistency. We don't promise a number. Instead, we track your progress and adjust your plan based on how your body responds.
-
Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort are among the most common side effects. Your provider will review potential risks and side effects before treatment and monitor your response throughout the program.
-
Weight regain can occur after GLP-1 therapy is discontinued, which is why we begin discussing long-term habits and maintenance well before you reach your goal. There isn't one exit plan for everyone. Your provider will work with you to determine whether continued medication, dose adjustment, or transitioning away from medication is appropriate for you.
-
Reaching your goal doesn't mean your care automatically ends. We'll look at your body composition, nutrition, movement, lab markers, medication needs, and long-term goals to determine what comes next. Follow-up may transition to every three months, six months, or annually depending on your individual needs.
