Functional Wellness Consultation
Functional Medicine Wellness in Enfield, CT
Your Health, Better Understood. Your Future, Better Supported.
Investing in your health is not limited to just losing weight. It is optimizing your strength, eating better foods, taking care of the inside so your outside can reflect. Our Functional Wellness Consultation is designed for individuals who want to better understand their lab results, nutrition, body composition, lifestyle, and the everyday choices that shape long-term well-being. Learn about health and advocate.
Your journey begins with a comprehensive 90-minute consultation with our Nurse Practitioner, baseline laboratory testing and review, InBody body composition analysis, and a thoughtful conversation about how you feel, what concerns you, and what you want to improve.
Together, we build an individualized plan focused on nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, appropriate supplementation, and sustainable habits, with your future health in mind.
-
Science-Driven. Medically Guided. Personal to You.
Your health is more than a collection of lab numbers. We look at your health history, symptoms, laboratory findings, body composition, nutrition, activity, sleep, stress, and personal goals to understand the bigger picture.
Your provider helps you understand what your results mean, which findings may need further evaluation, and where realistic changes could make a difference. Recommendations are individualized and may include nutrition guidance, movement goals, sleep and lifestyle strategies, targeted supplementation when appropriate, or coordination with another medical professional.
The goal is not to chase “perfect” numbers or add unnecessary products. It is to help you make informed decisions about your health and build habits you can sustain.
-
• Improve body composition while prioritizing lean muscle
• Build healthier nutrition and movement habits
• Better understand your metabolic health through lab work
• Identify and address nutritional deficiencies when present

• Complete your paperwork. Submit your Functional Wellness questionnaire, healthy history, and required forms before your appointment.
• Complete your lab work at least two weeks prior. This allows time for your results to be received and gives your provider the opportunity to thoroughly review your labs before your consultation.
• Bring your medication and supplement list, including doses, along with any relevant prior lab results or questions.
• Think about your goals. Consider what you want to achieve: more energy, movement, sleep, less stress, better nutrition. How do you want to feel?
• Come with an open mind. Your plan may look different than you expected, and that's okay. We'll build it around what makes sense for you.
What To Expect
Foundation | Months 0-3
The first three months establish the foundation for your long-term wellness. The focus is on making small, sustainable changes, setting realistic goals, monitoring medication tolerance when applicable, and better understanding your nutrition, hydration, movement, body composition, and vitamin and nutrient status.
During this phase, patients may be seen more frequently based on their individual treatment plan. Weekly visits may include medication administration, vitamin injections, IV therapy, or additional support when indicated.
Optimization | Months 3-12
The number on the scale is only one small part of the picture.
Throughout your first year, we continue to evaluate and optimize your health through provider follow-ups, InBody analysis, nutrition and movement goals, supplementation, medication management when applicable, and repeat lab work when clinically indicated. As your health, body, and goals evolve, your plan evolves with you.
Longevity | 12+
Reaching your initial goals doesn't mean your wellness journey is over. Together, we'll determine what continued care makes sense for you. Some patients benefit from follow-ups every three months, while others may transition to six-month or annual wellness visits with repeat lab work as appropriate.
Wellness is a lifelong commitment, not a finish line. Your long-term plan is designed around where you are, where you want to go, and what you need to maintain your progress and continue investing in your health for years to come.
Why Choose BonaVita for Medical Weight Management?
Safety First. Always.
Your health comes before weight loss. Every patient begins with a medical evaluation, lab work, and ongoing provider oversight to determine what is appropriate and safe for you. We continue to assess your health throughout the program, and if at any point the risks outweigh the benefits, treatment will be adjusted or discontinued. Your health always comes first.
More Than Medication
Medication can be an effective tool, but it isn't the entire plan. We focus on nutrition, movement, body composition, muscle preservation,
lifestyle habits, and your overall health, not simply the number on the scale.
Provider Managed
Your care is managed by a Nurse Practitioner from your initial 90-minute consultation through your ongoing follow-ups. We monitor your progress, response to treatment, body composition, labs when indicated, and potential side effects, adjusting and treating as needed while providing education, encouragement, and support along the way.
Education Matters
We want you to understand your health, not simply follow a plan. Your lifestyle matters—work, family, time, nutrition, exercise, stress, and even the season of life you're in all influence what is realistic for you. There is no cookie-cutter approach. We help you understand your nutrition, movement, body composition, metabolic health, and daily habits, then build a plan that can realistically work within your life.
We're Playing the Long Game
This isn't about losing weight as quickly as possible. It's about becoming a healthier version of yourself, setting realistic goals, and building small, sustainable habits you can carry into everyday life. The goal isn't a quick fix, it's long-term health with longevity in mind.
Our Approach to Medical Weight Loss
The medication is a tool. Your health is the blueprint.
GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications have changed the way we can medically support weight loss, but they haven't changed what matters most: your overall health.
Sustainable weight loss means looking beyond the number on the scale. We pay attention to muscle mass, nutrition, movement, hydration, lab values, nutritional deficiencies, lifestyle, and most importantly, how you feel, not just how you look.
Sometimes medication is appropriate. Sometimes it isn't. And sometimes your plan needs to change along the way.
Our job is to educate and empower you to better understand and advocate for your health, monitor your progress, and make thoughtful recommendations throughout the process—not simply hand you medication and send you home.

Because the scale doesn't tell the whole story. Two people can weigh exactly the same and have completely different body compositions.
InBody analysis allows us to look beyond your weight and track changes in areas such as skeletal muscle mass, body fat, visceral fat, and overall body composition.
This helps us evaluate whether you're simply losing pounds, or making meaningful changes in your body composition while protecting the muscle that supports metabolism, strength, and long-term health.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Medication is one tool we may use, but it isn't appropriate or necessary for everyone. Your provider will review your health history, labs, body composition, lifestyle, and goals before discussing whether medication should be part of your plan.
-
Weight loss varies significantly from person to person and depends on factors including starting weight, medication response, nutrition, activity, sleep, underlying health conditions, and consistency. We don't promise a number. Instead, we track your progress and adjust your plan based on how your body responds.
-
Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort are among the most common side effects. Your provider will review potential risks and side effects before treatment and monitor your response throughout the program.
-
Weight regain can occur after GLP-1 therapy is discontinued, which is why we begin discussing long-term habits and maintenance well before you reach your goal. There isn't one exit plan for everyone. Your provider will work with you to determine whether continued medication, dose adjustment, or transitioning away from medication is appropriate for you.
-
Reaching your goal doesn't mean your care automatically ends. We'll look at your body composition, nutrition, movement, lab markers, medication needs, and long-term goals to determine what comes next. Follow-up may transition to every three months, six months, or annually depending on your individual needs.
